Paper Towns

Title: Paper Towns
Author: John Green
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile
Year: 2008
Series: none
Genre: Mystery/Contemporary

Plot Summary: This is the story of a boy in love with a girl. After a surprise night of pranks with Margo, Quentin falls in love with his unattainable crush. When Quentin shows up at school the next day, Margo is not there, in fact she has left home and is missing. Quentin and his band geek friends search for her, following clues Margo left behind, and they all discover she was not the girl she appeared to be.

Opinion: Of the books I've read by John Green, Paper Towns is my least favorite. Like the rest of Green's books(excluding The Fault in Our Stars), this is the story of a boy chasing after a mysterious girl he has fallen in love with. In my opinion, the book could have been a novella, because Margo disappears at the very beginning of the book and the rest of it was the search for her. The very, very long search for a character who is very obviously selfish and vain to the reader, but not the characters. Bravo to Green for writing very realistic friendships again, and I am glad I read the book. But it's not his best. And that's why this review is so much shorter than the rest of mine.

I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. If you haven't read any Green, you should start with Looking for Alaska and leave this one out.
